Funny Face
Funny Face is a self-expression activity involving face painting and funny face making and photography. LYP creates a fun and nurturing atmosphere to talk about self-love and make a silly face, too.
Magnetic Love
Magnetic Love is an introspective art project where participants create magnets to honor someone in their life who possesses the qualities of self-respect, self-love, and leadership.
Love on the Line
Inspired by Tibetan Prayer Flags, Love on the Line participants create paintings on cloth and hang them on a line as they are guided to reflect on the concept of self-love.
Detox Your Negative Thoughts
Detox Your Negative Thoughts is a reflection activity designed to give people the courage to identify any negative thoughts or emotions they have towards themselves. The negativity is written on paper and is ceremonially removed by placing the paper into a large bowl of water and shouting "Be Gone!".
Mirror Mirror
This group reflection activity gives partcipants a chance to gaze into a mirror and reflect on what they see and share it with the group. The environment is safe and nurturing and group members are encouraged to reflect back positive visions to each person in turn.
Empowerment (Superhero) Bracelets
In this empowerment art project, participants reflect on their strengths and identify their "superpower". Then the superpower is written on paper and turned into a bead for placement onto the bracelet.
Summer Volunteer Program
LYP offers summer volunteer programs for interested students who wish to learn more about art, leadership, self-love, art administration, gallery etiquette and operations. In 2013, 30 students from the GPS Academy created a sculptures at Green Oasis Community Garden and Gilbert's Sculpture Garden in the East Village. In addition to working outdoors and learning about sculpture, students engaged in concepts of self-love, leadership, and environmental issues.
